How to Apply to the Online DEMSN

La Roche University’s DEMSN program in Pittsburgh, PA, is designed for career changers with a bachelor’s degree in a non-nursing field. We encourage prospective students to begin the application process early to allow sufficient time to gather transcripts, complete prerequisites, and schedule TEAS testing.

Prerequisites

You must have completed the following prerequisites from an approved institution with a grade of C or better, within the past seven years:

  • Human Anatomy & Physiology I (with laboratory component)
  • Human Anatomy & Physiology II (with laboratory component)
  • Microbiology (with laboratory component)
  • Chemistry

Admissions

To be considered for admission to the DEMSN program, applicants must meet all of the following qualifications:

Degree and Minimum GPA A baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution with a GPA of 3.0 or greater* is required.
*A GPA of 2.8-2.9 is still eligible but will require a score of 75% or higher on the TEAS.
Transcripts Official transcripts from all educational institutions attended.
Transfer Credits Transfer credits are not accepted.
Official Test Scores ATI TEAS composite score of 70% or higher and a score of 65% in the English Language and Usage section (taken within the last year).
Additional Requirements
  • Current basic life support training from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Completed Department of Nursing health form and physical
  • Clearances (within 12 months prior to admission)
  • Completion of the following pre-requisites from an approved institution with a C or better within 7 years:
    • Human Anatomy & Physiology I (with laboratory component)
    • Human Anatomy & Physiology II (with laboratory component)
    • Microbiology (with laboratory component)
    • Chemistry
